Golding Capital hires ex-BlueBay partner to head private debt

Abhik Das will be responsible for primaries, secondaries and co-investment for institutional investment programmes and managed accounts.

Golding Capital Partners has hired former BlueBay partner Abhik Das to head up its private debt business.

Das, who joins after spending seven years in the private debt group at Bluebay Asset Management, will take overall responsibility for Golding’s private debt activity, including primaries, secondaries and co-investment for both institutional investment programmes and managed accounts.

He has spent more than 11 years making direct private debt investments and was responsible for selecting and executing new primary financings of companies across Europe at BlueBay. During his time at BlueBay he executed transactions worth around €1 billion.

Before joining BlueBay, Das worked in the principal finance division of Macquarie and has also held roles at Credit Suisse, Lehman Brothers and Nomura.

Alongside Das’s appointment, Golding has hired Florian Hofer as an investment manager. Hofer joins from EQT Credit where he gained experience in private debt transactions internationally.

In February Golding raised €364 million for Golding Buyout 2015, a proportion of which will go towards small- and mid-cap buyout-focused secondaries transactions in Europe and North America.

Sister publication Private Debt Investor caught up with Das to discuss his approach to investing for LPs in its May edition.
